Live in the "Now". Take time every day to appreciate what you have. Try where possible to be in the "Present" rather than dwell on the past and what has been. Do not worry about the future and what could be. Never sacrifice Happiness for achievement. Be thankful and live each day as if it were your last. Smile at strangers in the street and say Hello. Hug your family and friends and take time to tell them you love them.

I have had many emails and texts from students stating that due to the current situation they will not be training. my classes have been extremely quiet for the past few days resulting in me losing money and not being able to even cover the rent of the halls. with this in mind all classes will be cancelled until next Friday 3rd August. I appreciate that this is not ideal with the Grading coming up but with only a handful of students attempting to come to class this seems the best solution in the short term. So, first class back will be Fridays family class at 6pm - normally held at the Cheltenham Recreation Centre but now moved to Leckhampton Primary. Fingers crossed we will be all have water back on by then. As I do not have email addresses for all students I will also text as many people as poss. If in the meantime you see any fellow students please pass on the contents of this notice. thanks. hope to see you all very soon. Good luck and keep bailing out! Sensei

New Adult Class at Bishops Cleeve Primary School - I have agreed everything with the Head of Bishops Cleeve Primary to allow an Adult / Senior class to start. The class will run on a wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 8pm. All those of you Parents who have considered starting this fantastic martial art...now is your chance! All of you who have so patiently sat for years and watched me train your children...now is the time to join all the other Mums & Dads who made the leap and now train on a regular basis. Where else can you improve your flexibility, stamina, fitness, & confidence plus learn a very traditional & effective form of self defence? You will work harder than in a step or boxercise class that is a promise! The classes will start on Wednesday 13th June. Cost per class is £5. I do not charge membership or joining fees and you are not expected to pay in advance. Just pay when you train...this way you do not waste any money on classes you cannot get to. Please feel free to come along! Also if you have any teenagers in your house who spend too much time in front of the telly or on the computer drag them along aswell!! Likewise all my existing Adult students are very welcome to train at this additional class. I will give you all the relevant paperwork and info at the class. Look forward to seeing you all there! you may train for a long, long time, but if you merely move your feet and hands and jump up and down like a puppet, learning karate is not very different from learning to dance. you will never have reached the heart of the matter, you will have failed to grasp the true meaning of karate-do. you must develop your mind, body & spirit in equal proportions.

With the Grading only a few weeks away on Saturday 28th April can all students please check their licenses and make sure they are up to date. IF your license has expired or is about to do so it must be applied for at least 7 days prior to the Grading. REMEMBER, NO LICENSE, NO GRADING! Sensei

For those of you lucky enough to have reached the dizzy heights of brown or black belt I will be teaching the first senior grade only class on Sunday mornings starting on Sunday 11th March. This will replace the scheduled monthly class for all grades. The response to having this class has been very positive however under the current circumstances we will look to run two classes per month to begin with. This class will cover advanced KATA & KUMITE with emphasis on senior grading syllabus. The venue will be Leckhampton Primary School and the class time will be 10am to 11.30am. See you all in class! Sensei.

With the number of Black & Brown belts now becoming quite substantial in the club I am considering creating a weekly class specifically for senior grades. The venue will be Leckhampton Primary School and the proposed day each week would be Sunday 10am to 11.30am. This class would replace the current monthly class I teach for all ages/grades. It will cover advanced Kumite & Combinations plus Senior KATA. I will only run this class if there is enough interest. For those of you who already qualify for this additional class please contact me by email or phone to register your interest. I would like to stress this is an additional class. It is open to Adults & Juniors of 3rd Kyu and above who wish to attend an extra class each week. I do not expect this to replace one of your existing classes. For those of you who currently only train once a week this is a great opportunity to now step up your development in the lead up to forthcoming Gradings. For those students who already train twice a week please see the additional benefits this class will have on your techniques. Please reply by end of Feb with a view to us starting these classes on the first Sunday in March. I look forward to hearing from you all. Sensei

I wanted to start by saying just how proud I was of all those students who competed this Sunday. Stuart Galey, Ashley Grainger, Kevin Warren, Harry Safe, Naz Zublevsky, Kimberley Smith, Tamsin Grainger & Scott Christie. And a very special well done to Ed Turner for bringing home the title of Kata Champion for his Category Mens Senior 7th kyu to 4th kyu. Also a big well done to young Brandon Willis for becoming Kumite Champion in his category and also for winning 2nd place in the team Kumite...oh & a little pat on the back to your own Sensei for picking up 3rd place in the Mens Senior Kata Black/Brown belt category! (NEXT YEAR I AM EXPECTING TO TAKE A MUCH BIGGER SQUAD WITH THE INTENTION OF BRINGING BACK TROPHIES IN ALL CATEGORIES!) Please look out for news of our next Competition Entry over the next few months. All those of you keen to have a go please let me know...and there is a lovely shot of Brandon with his trophy on the gallery page. Sensei

These will be presented at the Christmas Grading each year. They will be for the MOST OUTSTANDING JUNIOR AND SENIOR of the Year plus a Joint Trophy for BEST PARENT/CHILD. Those students lucky enough to win will be presented with a certificate and large trophy to be polished and kept on the mantlepiece for 12 months. So work and train hard! Sensei

The class is already scheduled into our calendar, however I am hoping that our entire club will attend. therefore I have booked the entire hall for this one off class. I will donate all of the class fees from this special class to the charity. And should you wish to pay more than your normal fee then this too will go to this worthy cause. Please make space for this class in your diaries and encourage as many people to attend...family and friends are welcome even if they do not train currently...as long as they pay their class fee and we raise as much money as possible! see you there Sensei.

Hello Students & Parents! Grading Day... We are now fast approaching the next Grading - Saturday 22nd April. It is your responsibility to check the expiry date on the Licence. If you need to renew it then please get a form from me as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about the Grading, or are not sure if you, or your child are ready for this Grading, then please speak to me earlier rather than later and I will do my best to help in any way I can. Worrying about making a fool of yourself or not knowing what to do is a natural feeling.
